Chapter 1 - Introduction

Back-End is a Content Management System (CMS) that currently features section and article management, polls, random quotes, latest news and articles, search engine friendly urls with additional features currently being developed. Back-End has secure user and administrative interfaces. Being web-based, the interface for Back-End is a current version of a standard web-browser.

    Back-End Code

    Back-End code makes things simple in that you don't have to write links yourself
  • <a ###DOK 123### >....</a> - this builds a link to the article 123
  • <a ###EXT 123### >....</a> - this builds a link to an uploaded binary file
  • <img ###IMG 123### > - if you type this in the article the image with the id 123 is included with all parameters (width,height, and alt text). The correct code is shown in the admin interface when you uploaded an image.

    Licence

    The Back-End source code is released under the GPL, and makes use of the programming language PHP. We have chosen to use PHP and mySQL because our development team believes in making our source code accessible to as broad an audience as possible. Both PHP and mySQL have a rapidly growing developer base because of their ease of use.

    We have made Back-End completely web-based in order that it may be run without having to install special client software – something of specific value to IT managers who want to deploy Back-End in an organization with many users.
